God’s Sufficiency. Our Dependency.

By Pastor Brady Wolcott

Philippians 4:19. And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

It’s so easy in our everyday lives to lose sight of the God we love and serve. To lose sight of his sufficiency and our dependency. To fall into discontent. To embrace entitlement.

Our Fighter Verse addresses all of these heart issues and more with these life changing truths.

God is good- He will supply needs. He is a good father who won’t neglect his child.

God is able- He can supply needs. He has the power to supply.

God is personal- He is “my” God. He knows us by name. He knows exactly what we have need of in every situation.

God is sufficient- He supplies “every” need. None get forgotten or neglected. There is no need you have that he is not currently meeting. Everything you have is what you need.

God is wise- He supplies our every “needs” not every desire. He knows that often what we desire we do not need. Our wants are often self-destructive.

God is wealthy- He has access to anything and everything we need. All physical and spiritual resources are at his disposal.

God is glorious- He shares his glory as he meets our needs. We experience meaning and purpose through this relationship of giving and receiving with God. We experience future glory now through our interdependent relationship with God.

God is Christ- Christ is God. You are in Christ and this is where the glorious riches are found. The love, joy, and grace we experience in giving and receiving comes from union with Christ. The experience of Christ in us is the glory of God’s riches. Nothing more and nothing less.

We are dependent- without embracing a humble dependence upon God and his grace in us through the indwelling life of Christ, we will never experience the joy that comes by way of contentment.

Do you believe this? The measure to which you believe and accept these truths is the measure to which you will experience the glory of God and find joy in meeting needs and then having your needs met by God in Christ.
